Steve

I first started having bass lessons with Damien Redmond around 3 years ago. Damien is a very
talented musician and he uses an effective and varied approach to teaching; lessons
are focused on practical playing as well as theory. There is also plenty of opportunity
to play with other musicians in a band situation. Regular studio sessions are arranged
and as a result we played our first gig in January which was a very rewarding
experience.
Damien also encourages students to take music exams, my most recent success was
getting a distinction in grade 6.
Lastly, Damien is a thoroughly nice guy and very patient, although can be prone to
lapses of memory as I found out on one bank holiday when an extra lesson had been
double booked. Since then he has invested in a diary, so make sure he writes things
down in it!

Since my first lesson, Damien Redmond has emphasized the enjoyment of playing guitar just as much as the technical aspects of it, making my introduction to the instrument less daunting. Lessons are always substantial and he draws on his considerable talent as a player to help me with any difficult pieces, and is infinitely patient with my questions and mistakes. Each lesson promises an improvement to my technique along with some witty banter! Perfect!
